MUFACE provides healthcare to mutual society members and beneficiaries. This service provided is an initial and basic level of primary care.
MUFACE facilitates the provision of healthcare to mutual society members and their beneficiaries by means of agreements signed with the Public Health System and Health Insurance Companies through health insurance for civil servants.
These agreements stipulate the rights and obligations of the parties, as well as the modalities, terms and conditions of the healthcare services offered to beneficiaries.
The healthcare service will be provided to MUFACE beneficiaries in accordance with the list of services established in the agreement.
The healthcare services are provided through primary care.
Now, let's take a look at the following points:
Primary care is an initial and basic level of care provided by specialists in family and community medicine, or general practitioners, paediatric specialists, and nursing staff, as well as the collaboration of other professionals.
Primary care includes:
- Care of acute and chronic diseases (upon request, planned, and urgent) in a clinic or at the patient's home.
- The prescription and implementation, where applicable, of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Prevention programmes.
The beneficiaries of healthcare for common illnesses and accidents are any mutual society members included in the scope of application of this special scheme, retired mutual society members and family members or persons officially under their care, in accordance with the provisions of Section 1 of Article 15 of the General Regulation of Administrative Mutualism.
The healthcare provides medical, surgical, and pharmaceutical services intended with the aim of maintaining or restoring the health condition of the beneficiaries under this special scheme, as well as their ability to work.
In addition, it provides services to complement medical and pharmaceutical services, and, where applicable, it provides physical rehabilitation for the recovery of people with a temporary disability and, therefore, unable to work.
The healthcare will be provided directly by the General Mutual Society or through agreements with other public or private entities or centres, preferably with institutions of Social Security. If the healthcare is provided through an agreement, mutual society members may choose the public or private entity or centre to receive care, when they become members, upon registration, or within the indicated period.
To access the services of Primary Care professionals, the beneficiaries may go to any physician listed in the directory of providers and present their DKV Health Insurance Card.
In municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants that have a Rural Agreement, mutual society members can receive healthcare through the Primary Care Services of the Public Health System.
Primary Care Professionals will provide their services at the patient's home if required by the clinical situation, for example, patients who are unable to travel due to their illness, chronic immobilised patients who need help to carry out basic everyday activities, and terminally-ill patients.
