School Mile Challenge
An initiative to encourage physical activity and prevent childhood overweight and obesity
The School Mile Challenge is a healthcare initiative that is already a success in other countries. It is now being introduced into Spanish schools by DKV Seguros. The aim is to encourage primary school students to try out recreational participation in sports with the aim of combating childhood overweight and obesity. How? With a simple, fun, outdoor activity in the company of their classmates: running one mile a day (1,600 metres).
To participate, teachers must register their classroom on the project website and upload 1 photo each month of the class running the mile and 1 phrase that sums up the students' experience.
